Sentencing delayed for pregnant woman Gemma Strows who assaulted a man in King’s Lynn more than two years ago

A pregnant woman who assaulted a man two years ago will have to wait to learn her fate after she missed her appointment with probation.

Gemma Strows, 23, of Bridge Road in Sutton Bridge, was 14 weeks pregnant when she appeared at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where her hearing was rescheduled.

She assaulted a man in Lynn on November 13, 2023 – yet two years later, no punishment has been issued.

Prosecutor Jessica Neequaye gave no information about Strows’ offence. However, it is known that although she initially pleaded not guilty, she was eventually convicted at the end of October.

Her sentencing was adjourned to allow a pre-sentence report to take place – but the defendant never turned up to the meeting.

In mitigation, solicitor Sally Dale explained that Strows got “muddled up”, confusing the probation appointment with a midwife appointment, which was on the same day.

Magistrates decided to adjourn the sentencing until February 18 at the same court.

Strows has been released on bail with the condition that she must engage with probation.
