King’s Lynn thief Jaroslav Barcevic stole perfume and beer to fund drug addiction
A thief who stole perfume and beer to buy drugs “seems like he’s turning his life around”, a court heard.
Jaroslav Barcevic, 39, who lives in homeless accommodation in Lynn, was caught on two occasions stealing from shops in town.
The first incident saw him pinch a four-pack of Kronenbourg beer from Home Bargains in North Lynn on October 27.

Around two weeks later, on November 11, he went into Superdrug on Broad Street, picked up two bottles of perfume and left without paying.
Barcevic pleaded guilty to theft at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, and was ordered to pay compensation to the stores – £71.90 for the perfume and £5.89 for the beer – as well as £55 in court costs.
In mitigation, solicitor Tiffany Meredith said the defendant stole the perfume to pay for drugs and has been going to the charity Change Grow Live for help with his addiction.
Probation officer Lewis Spicer told magistrates that Barcevic has recently been attending his meetings and is complying with the service.
“It seems like he’s starting to turn his life around,” he said.
