King’s Lynn college students support town’s food bank and night shelter by hosting festive fair
Two charities will receive a boost after college students held a Christmas fair.
Level 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care students at Lynn’s College of West Anglia brought festive cheer to the town’s campus when they hosted the fundraiser which netted £523.18 to be donated to Lynn food bank and the night shelter.
The event was planned, organised and run by the students, giving them the opportunity to develop key teamwork, communication, and event-planning skills while supporting two important community services during the winter period.

Stalls included a popular ‘guess the number of sweets in a jar’ competition, a sweet treat sale, and a range of festive games designed to bring staff and students together and encourage charitable giving.
All proceeds from the fair were donated to the charities to support their work helping individuals and families in need.
Student Alexa- Louise Hewitt, who manned the tombola with her friend Tia Edwards, said: “I think these are two very good causes to be fundraising for, as the King’s Lynn Night Shelter and King’s Lynn Foodbank are helping people who are in desperate need and financially struggle to get the daily necessities, without them many people would be suffering right now.”
Helen Waters, course director, added: “The Christmas fair was a clear demonstration of the students’ dedication to both their studies and the community. Their enthusiasm, compassion, and commitment to making a positive difference reflect the values central to the Health and Social Care course at CWA.”
