Christmas toy appeal is ‘source of pride’ for Greenpark Academy in King’s Lynn
A school’s toy appeal has brought some festive cheer to youngsters in hospital.
Pupils at Greenpark Academy in North Lynn demonstrated outstanding kindness and leadership through a school-wide toy appeal for Rudham children’s ward at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The initiative was organised by the school council, which includes a representative from every class in Years 2 to 6.

A school spokesperson said: “Council members planned, promoted, collected and sorted donations, showing real dedication and teamwork.
“The response from families and the wider school community was extraordinary, with an impressive number of generous contributions ranging from much-loved second-hand toys to brand new games, puzzles, books and craft sets.”
The children delivered the toys to the ward in time for Christmas, ensuring that young patients have fresh and exciting things to enjoy during their stay in hospital.
During their visit, the pupils met the ward’s play leaders, who expressed heartfelt gratitude and explained how the donations will not only brighten the children’s days but also support their emotional wellbeing during difficult times, the school said.
“The project has been a source of pride throughout Greenpark Academy, highlighting the compassion and community spirit of its pupils and the positive impact children can make when given the opportunity to lead and inspire others,” said the spokesperson.
This was echoed by headteacher Jill Graver who said: “The kindness and dedication the school council has shown and with the support of all the other children and families will bring comfort and smiles to many young patients, I am immensely proud of the positive difference they have made in our community.”
