Wisbech man Christopher Durrant caused distress in King’s Lynn during hunt for lost fiver
A man who distressed witnesses by shouting and swearing claims he was just trying to find his £5 note.
Business owners on Tower Street grew concerned on December 2 after noticing a man sitting on the ground at around 4pm.
As he began to shout and swear, police arrived and identified him as Christopher Durrant, 49, of Holmes Drive in Wisbech, and arrested him for a public order offence.

He pleaded guilty at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he declined legal representation.
Prosecutor Simon Munton said witnesses were “scared that he was going to hurt himself”.
As people walked by him, he asked them for money and said: “I want to die”.
However, despite not remembering the incident very well, Durrant believed it was a misunderstanding.
“I lost £5 in the street, and I couldn’t find it,” he said.
“I was trying to talk to myself.”
Magistrates decided the only punishment they would issue would be a £26 victim surcharge, with no costs or a fine.
