King’s Lynn to Ypres Challenge sees students raise impressive amount for Help for Heroes
College students have been recognised for their fundraising efforts for a charity supporting veterans, service personnel and their families.
Level 3 Public Protective Services students at the College of West Anglia (CWA) set themselves a CWA to Ypres Challenge to raise funds for Help for Heroes.
They had to cover the equivalent distance from Lynn to Ypres in Belgium, and did so by completing three major endurance challenges – Three Peaks in Yorkshire, Peddars Way, and a static cycle ride.

These demanding activities not only built resilience, teamwork and leadership, but also helped raise an impressive £2,184 for the charity, the college said.
To mark their challenge achievement, CWA principal and chief executive David Pomfret, presented congratulatory certificates during a ceremony at the Lynn campus.
The CWA to Ypres Challenge is part of the college’s ongoing programme to give Public Protective Services students opportunities to push themselves physically and mentally, while supporting important causes connected to the uniformed services, the college said.

Mr Pomfret said: “Our Public Protective Services students have shown remarkable determination and character throughout this challenge. Completing three major endurance challenges while raising over £2,000 for Help for Heroes is an exceptional achievement. Their commitment reflects the values we champion at CWA, and I am incredibly proud to celebrate their success.”
Thanks have gone to the students, staff and supporters who contributed to the total and helped make the challenge a success.
