Values award for King’s Lynn hospital worker for exceptional compassion and kindness

A hospital staff member has been recognised for going ‘above and beyond’ to help in an emergency situation she came across on her way to work.

Phlebotomist Mandy Brady, who works at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, has been awarded an Outstanding Contribution for Living Our Values Award for exceptional compassion and kindness.

Mandy was surprised by the hospital’s interim executive managing director, Chris Bown, who presented the award on Friday, December 19.

Her nomination shared how she went above and beyond, showing compassion and commitment, while helping a member of the public in an emergency situation on her way into work. Her nomination highlighted her quick action, doing all she could to honour the person’s dignity and modesty, as well as her dedication to wellness and kindness to others, a hospital spokesperson said.

Mandy, who was shocked to be presented with the award, said: “I was just doing my job, and I am overwhelmed to have been nominated. I would like to thank all of my colleagues for the support they gave me when I returned to work after what happened.”

The spokesperson said the awards are a way for staff to be recognised when they go above and beyond their duties, whether in a clinical or non-clinical role.

The monthly Living Our Values award is part of the hospital’s reward and recognition programme which is funded by The QEHKL Charity.
