West Norfolk charity is ‘blown away’ by donation from staff at King’s Lynn’s Plumbase
Fundraising events from raffles to golf days has seen a business hand over more than £2,800 to a charity – with more still to come.
Staff at King’s Lynn’s Plumbase chose West Norfolk Autism Group as the store’s charity of the year, presenting £2,897 to the locally-based charity, run by unpaid volunteers who are either parents/carers of autistic people or are autistic themselves.
The group said it was a wonderful surprise when the Rollesby Road firm’s manager Aaron Webster-Rice presented the bumper cheque.

Chairperson of trustees Karan McKerrow said: “We’re absolutely blown away by the magnificent hard work put in by the team at Plumbase who have managed to raise this incredible sum of money for us by hosting a whole range of fab activities with their lovely clients and customers.
“They are still bringing money in for this, so that isn’t the final sum. What a wonderful team Aaron, Alfie, Arun and Jamie are and they contributed towards one of our high altitude trampolining sessions as well.
“We don’t receive any central government funding and rely on brilliant people like this to help us provide the activities we do for autistic families in West Norfolk. We couldn’t do this without the generosity of people like this. Thank you so much.”
Mr Webster-Rice added: “We did various events throughout the year such as golf days, boxing event at Tottenham ground, breakfast mornings, lunches, in-store raffles and competitions as well as the big Christmas raffle.
“We chose the West Norfolk Autism Group (WNAG) as it is local and a personal touch to staff here as well as our everyday customers. Nearly every one of them knows someone who is autistic and requires support. It would be great if autism gets more support from local businesses especially when you see the social media postings of the smiles on autistic people’s faces, it’s amazing.”
