Shock as Wimpy in King’s Lynn suddenly closes following landlord repossession notice

A popular fast food restaurant, which has been in the heart of town for decades, has suddenly closed following a repossession notice.

The landlord of the Wimpy building, located on the corner of Lynn’s High Street and New Conduit Street, issued the notice this morning.

This has resulted in the sudden closure of the restaurant, which offered eat-in and takeaway burgers, fries and milkshakes.

Today, the lights are off and doors are locked, with a letter from South East Reinforcement put up on the doors and windows.

The future of Wimpy in Lynn remains uncertain, as its website says it is “temporarily closed”.

The closure has come as a shock, as the restaurant appeared packed with customers over the weekend.

The letter reads: “The landlord has this day re-entered these premises. The landlord is entitled to repossess and has now exercised their right under law.”

Another letter on the window has ordered Wimpy to collect its goods by February 3. If not, items such as furniture and crockery will be sold.

Wimpy has been in its current premises for many years and was refurbished in 2020. Before that, Lynn had a distinct, pyramid-shaped restaurant in the 1970s.

The chain has been approached for comment.
