A contact centre which provides a safe place where children of separated families can meet is looking for more helpers.

The volunteer-run Lynn Child Contact Centre provides a safe, friendly and neutral place where children can spend time with one or both parents and sometimes other family members.

Lesley Bambridge, chairperson of the contact centre, said twice-monthly, Saturday morning sessions are held at the Methodist Church on London Road, for non-resident parents to meet up with their child/children.

“We need volunteers to help in welcoming the families, making teas and coffees and to be aware of any safeguarding issues that might arise.

“The Child Contact Centre is entirely volunteer-run and is accredited by the National Association of Child Contact Centres. No experience is needed but being kind, friendly, tolerant and impartial are the sorts of qualities we are looking for,” said Lesley.

The centre is child-friendly with toys, games and facilities which reflect the diverse needs of children affected by a family breakdown.

Previous experience of working with youngsters and families isn’t necessary as training will be given. Volunteers are required to undergo a DBS check and must be aged over 18. Help is required for around four hours on the first and third Saturday of each month.
