King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Scooter Boys enjoy festive ride to donate toys to hospital children’s ward
Scooter enthusiasts put on their festive gear and rode to the QEH children’s ward to deliver a generous donation.
The Lynn and West Norfolk Scooter Boys Scooter Club arranged its annual charity run for the children’s ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Arranged by the leader of the pack, Barry Eglen, the club raised £400, including a £100 sponsorship from Lynn’s Eatwell Cafè. This money went towards buying toys for children on the ward.

Jonny Smith from the club, who was dressed as an elf on the day, said: “We spend many months prior to the charity ride arranging publicity, route for the ride and the collection and donations by all those involved.
“As directed by QEH staff as to what the children like, the money was used to buy children’s presents and kindly delivered on the day by Cookie and his van.”
The toy donation saw Jonny accompanied by his 11-year-old son Tayler, who was dressed up as Father Christmas.

They travelled from Eatwell Cafè on the High Street to Sainsbury’s on the Hardwick Retail Park, where they met more riders before making their way to the children’s ward.
“We were greeted with the warmest of welcomes and cheers for this very good deed,” Jonny added.
“Throughout the ride, we received many, many cheers, waves and a few honks of the horn to join in on the Christmas cheer and support our good cause.
“This event we create is very close to our hearts for the hospitalised children over the festive period, and especially to the ones who cannot be at home with their families for Christmas Day.

“I am sure we brought smiles and joy to the children’s ward and staff alike.”
King’s Lynn Scooter Boys Scooter Club meets at Eatwell Cafè every Sunday morning from 9am.
The group enjoys “coffee, chats, laughs and regular rides out”, and welcomes like-minded people with or without scooters.
