A club has pledged its continued support for a town’s food bank, praising its vital work.

Downham Rotary has been a longstanding supporter of the town’s food bank which gives out three-day emergency food parcels to people in crisis as well as providing other help.

Rotarian Tony Firrell met with Yvonne Moore from the food bank, and pledged the club’s continued support with regular donations towards its “splendid work”.

Members agreed to give £120 per month for the next six months as well as one member generously adding an extra £50 a month.

In return, Yvonne said: “Thank you so much for your wonderful donation and for your continued support of our food bank. Kind contributions like yours enable us to keep providing food to people in crisis and supporting the most vulnerable members of our community when they need it most.”

The food bank is based at Eternity church on the Trafalgar Industrial Estate and has been running for nearly ten years. Last month alone, it gave out 90 emergency parcels.
