Blind comedian Chris McCausland boosts sight-loss charity Vision Norfolk through stand-up tour
Support from a famous comedian has given a sight-loss charity a cash boost.
Chris McCausland’s stand-up show at Lynn’s Corn Exchange raised £300 for Vision Norfolk through collection buckets on Friday, January 23.
The comic lost his sight when he was 22 due to a hereditary condition called retinitis pigmentosa, which causes a gradual degeneration of the retina.
Now 47, the Strictly Come Dancing star has continued to raise money for the Norfolk charity.
The recent collection will be used to help fund the services that Vision Norfolk provides to people living with sight loss across the county, in their own homes and beyond, with activities and trips.
Vision Norfolk chief executive Andrew Morter said: “We are hugely grateful to Chris, both for bringing so much joy to Lynn with his show, and for allowing us to hold a collection as people left the theatre.
“His career and his amazingly positive attitude have been so inspiring for many people living with sight loss.
“Once again, he has also helped us support them in a tangible way by allowing us to raise funds at his show.”
