Employers inspire students at King’s Lynn college’s ‘most successful’ careers fair
College students were introduced to the world of work at an event which brought together employers and training providers.
The careers fair at the Lynn campus was designed to help students explore future pathways and gain an insight into the world of employment.
Ahead of the event, a networking breakfast was held for employers who met with David Pomfret, principal and chief executive of the College of West Anglia, and West Norfolk mayor Cllr Andy Bullen.

A college spokesperson said the session helped strengthen links between the college, employers and civic leaders, and set the tone for a day focused on partnership and progression.
Representatives from a wide range of industries attended, including Athena Care, the Department for Work and Pensions, Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Searles and Heacham Manor, Norfolk Natural Living, West Norfolk Council’s Help Hub, alongside CWA’s apprenticeship and commercial teams.
As well as employer stands, students were able to access careers advice and guidance, learn more about further and higher education options, and build their confidence in discussing skills and ambitions with industry professionals.

Flavia Hansell, the town’s Goodwins Hall general manager from Athena Care Ltd said: “Events like this are about engaging people to consider care as a career and strengthening the connections within the sector. It’s important for learners to get out there, understand healthcare, and see the different opportunities, pathways for development and learning available. There are so many ways to get into the sector and build a meaningful career.”
CWA career co-ordinator, Lesley Anderson, added: “This year’s Careers Fair was our most successful yet. The energy in the room was incredible, with students, staff and employers all fully engaged.
“We’ve seen such growth that we even had to cap employer numbers. Our breakfast meeting also sparked valuable conversations about the employability skills young people need and how we can work together to bridge the gap between education and employment.”
