King’s Lynn man Jack Smith remanded in custody until court hearing over arson attack




The 36-year-old accused of endangering life by setting a camper van on fire has been remanded in custody.

Jack Smith, of Hillen Road in South Lynn, has been refused bail, and will return to Norwich Crown Court for a hearing on January 8.

He has yet to enter a plea to a charge of arson with intent to endanger life, having appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court this morning.

This follows an incident between Saddlebow Road and Bunnett Avenue at 7pm on Tuesday, with a camper van believed to have been set on fire deliberately with someone inside.

Nobody was injured in the incident, police said.

Smith remains under investigation on suspicion of possessing a weapon and criminal damage.
