King’s Lynn fuel thief Chloe Kirk back in court after failing to meet with probation ahead of sentencing

A prolific fuel thief has landed herself back in court after failing to turn up for her pre-sentence report hearing.

Chloe Kirk, 30, of Grovelands in Ingoldisthorpe, had already pleaded guilty to seven counts of making off without payment from petrol stations back in October, and was supposed to be sentenced on Thursday.

However, things did not quite go to plan.

She reappeared before magistrates to explain why she had missed appointments with the probation service, which were scheduled for last month.

Solicitor Ryan Creek explained that due to a long-standing issue of cocaine use, which left her in debt, Kirk had to move in with her elderly grandparents.

He added that the pair suffered from poor health, leaving the defendant as their carer.

“She focused all of her attention on them instead of probation,” he said.

Kirk’s £500 fuel-snatching spree took place on seven different occasions between June 20 and September 8 this year from a number of garages, including Tesco in Lynn and Jet in Gaywood.

She claimed that she did it so she could drive to see her children, who are not currently in her care.

Magistrates decided to give her one more chance and adjourned her sentencing until February 10, back in the same court.

Kirk has been released on bail, with the condition that she engages with probation.
