Opening date for new King’s Lynn library revealed

The opening date for Lynn’s new library has been confirmed.

The state-of-the-art building will officially open on Monday, March 16, after a lengthy spell of construction at the New Conduit Street site.

It will have dedicated areas for children and young people, a business library, quiet study spaces and a new home for a historical collection that can be accessed by the public.

Alongside that, the new community space will also be home to adult learning, and features a purpose-built training kitchen as well as meeting rooms and flexible event spaces.

The existing Carnegie library will close its doors on Saturday, February 14 as preparations begin for the relocation.

Norfolk County Council has now shared photos of the inside of the new town centre building.

“The new library is larger that the previous library, and in a central location,” a statement announcing the opening date said.

“This makes it more accessible to the people of Lynn as well as providing more space for activities and – most importantly – books.

“We’re delighted that the much-loved old library will still be in public use, as Norfolk arts organisation The Garage Trust will be taking over the building to host a range of community activities.”
