Government urged to explore ways to prevent early release of King’s Lynn man Aurelijus Cielevicius
Leading Government officials have been urged to explore ways to prevent the early release of a man whose dangerous driving killed three people.
News emerged last week that Lynn man Aurelijus Cielevicius could soon be let out and deported back to Lithuania just three-and-a-half years into a ten-year jail term.
He killed family members Paul James Carter, Lisa Jayne Carter, and her daughter Jade Channelle Mace in January 2023 when, while trying to overtake another vehicle, he ploughed into their car on the A47 at North Runcton.

His speedometer was stuck at 96mph, and he had taken a cocktail of drugs including crystal meth before getting behind the wheel.
Last week, Summer Mace – who lost her mum, step-dad and sister due to Cielevicius’ atrocities – expressed devastation at the fact he could be released and deported so soon.
Now, having raised the matter at Prime Minister’s Questions last week, North West Norfolk MP James Wild has confirmed that he hopes the Goverment will “explore ways” to prevent this.

“This is a horrific and tragic case that devastated a family, and the suggestion the offender who was sentenced to ten-and-a-half years could be released and then deported after only three years is utterly offensive,” he said.
“Having been contacted by the family when they heard this news, I immediately raised it at Prime Minister’s Questions.
“I am grateful he agreed to look urgently at this and I have now provided details to him to look into the matter and explore ways to prevent the offender being released after such a short time.”
Summer feels that she and her family have been “failed by the justice system” at every stage – before the crash, as Cielevicius was on a curfew, by his sentence, and again now.
She is calling on the Government and the Ministry of Justice to re-examine the criteria for the early release scheme.
Cielevicius was also banned from driving for just 15 years despite the fatal consequences of his offences.
