Grimston Road closures extended in King’s Lynn for new bus lane to be finished
Temporary road closures have been extended in order for a new bus lane to be finished off.
Closures and restrictions have been in place on Grimston Road, near the Lynn’s Knights Hill roundabout, since September.
They were originally due to be lifted yesterday – but Norfolk County Council has confirmed that a few extra days are required. The temporary closures will be in place until Thursday this week.

The work is aimed at improving reliability for bus services using Grimston Road.
“Currently buses are caught in the congestion at Knights Hill roundabout and when stopping at bus stops cause further congestion,” a county council statement said.
“The installation of a bus lane will allow bus priority and remove the issue of stopped busses causing congestion. This will result in buses navigating the area more effectively which will improve journey times and reliability for local services.”
The closures are:
• Grimston Road will have two-way lights in place at times, but two-way traffic flow will be maintained excluding during overnight surfacing works.
• Grimston Road and the outer gyratory lane on the west of the roundabout will be closed overnight for surfacing works between 7.15pm and 6am until January 22.
• The A149 will have a 30mph temporary speed limit in place at the roundabout area for the duration of the works
Access to properties will be maintained throughout the works.
This project is costing £885,000 to deliver using funding awarded by the Department for Transport.
