Nordelph stalker Benjamin Saman made ex-partner ‘uncomfortable’ when jogging past her house

A stalker made his ex-partner feel “stressed and uncomfortable” when he jogged past her home.

The unwanted contact led to Benjamin Saman, 32, of High Street in Nordelph, being sentenced at Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Saman was also convicted for driving while disqualified, which he claimed in a previous hearing was done to visit a family member in a mortuary.

Saman stalked his ex-partner, who was a former work colleague, between February 1, 2024 and March 20 this year.

The victim stressed to Saman that she did not want any more contact from him. Despite this, he spoke to her in person multiple times as well as messaging her.

She also saw Saman jogging past her house and found it “intimidating”.

The victim said she was left feeling “stressed and uncomfortable” and “had to change her life” by avoiding contact with him.

Saman appeared unrepresented in court and said: “She did not come across as if she did not want me to be there.

“She only said that through a message. When we saw each other in person, it was fine. Our relationship was on and off before.

“I would like to apologise – I did not mean to cause her stress at all.”

Saman said that he “relied on alcohol” after breaking up with his victim.

For stalking, Saman was handed an 18-month community order, through which he will complete ten rehabilitation activity days and wear an alcohol monitoring tag for 90 days.

For driving while disqualified, an extra six months were added onto his existing ban. This means he will not be allowed to drive for another nine months.

An 18-month restraining order was put in place, ensuring Saman cannot contact his victim during that time.

He will also pay a £114 victim surcharge and £55 in court costs.
