King’s Lynn student’s festive fundraiser nets vital funds for animal rehoming centre

A young animal lover has continued her fundraising for a charity she has supported for the past six years.

Sixteen-year-old Lexi Nichol held a fair in December at her King’s Lynn school – King Edward VII Academy – and raised £1,566 for West Norfolk RSPCA’s Rehoming Centre at Eau Brink, Tilney All Saints.

A sixth form student at KES, this was Lexi’s second big fundraising event for the centre, having last December raised £1,800 from a bingo she organised.

A representative from the centre came along and brought with her Jasmine, one of the centre’s dog, as well as a poster about the the centre and details of some of the animals waiting to find their forever homes. The poster said a “massive thank you” to Lexi and that the centre has rehomed more than 2,000 pets in the last five years.

As well as her two main events, Lexi has raised funds for the centre over the years by making and selling items she has crafted including personalised mugs, festive snowmen and pet-friendly baubles.

The teenager’s fundraising efforts earned her a BBC Radio Norfolk ‘Making a Difference’ award last year.

Her mum Chrissy said the next event looks set to be an Easter bingo.

She said Lexi loves animals and the family has an adopted cat Alfie.
