Treats for King’s Lynn-based domestic abuse charity from women’s gym

Members of a women’s gym have supported victims of domestic abuse by collecting toiletries and treats.

The team and members at Sorority Women’s Gym based at Lynn’s St James Court collected shoeboxes which they packed with essential toiletries, pamper items and thoughtful treats for the Pandora Project, a West Norfolk-based charity supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse.

The charity was delighted with the gifts, which were distributed to women and children living in Pandora’s safe accommodation and accessing its community services over the festive season.

“We are incredibly grateful to Sorority for their kindness and compassion,” said Tracy Mahoney, chief executive at Pandora Project.

“Christmas can be an especially difficult time for the women and children we support. These parcels send a powerful message that our clients are seen, valued, and not alone.”

Sorority Female Only Gym has a strong commitment to empowering women, and this initiative reflects their wider dedication to supporting the community by partnering with Pandora.

“We wanted to do something meaningful for women who may be facing a really tough time,” said Kate Austin Whyatt, founder of Sorority.

“Our members were amazing, everyone got involved and we filled far more boxes than we expected. We hope these gifts bring a bit of comfort and warmth this Christmas.”

Tracy said Pandora Project extends its heartfelt thanks to Sorority and all their members for their wonderful generosity.

The charity said while Christmas is a time of joy for many, national evidence shows that the festive period can be a particularly risky time for women and children experiencing domestic abuse.

Police consistently report high numbers of domestic abuse callouts over Christmas and New Year. One-in-four women will be affected by domestic abuse in their lifetime, the charity said.
